| I will speak as one who was homeschooled all my academic life; until I reached college that is. I would say that I was better off for having been. I mean, sure, there could have been a few more social oppurtunities; but I was able to learn everything I needed to learn to prepare for college, even if I didn't have as many "friends" as some of the public school kids. I think it is ridiculous to even consider outlawing home school! Every parent should have the right to decide how to raise their children, not have the state government decide for them. I guess that pretty much sums up my feelings on the issue. God bless.
I just answered this Featured Question, you can answer it too! | | |
| I am going to update from New York City now. We are now three days into our trip. We are having a very good tiime. At least I am. We have not had too many strenuous activities yet. We have gone to a soup kitchen, that was the first day; then we walked around Manhattan. That was fun, but it was so tiring! We walked all day, when we weren't on the subway; which of course for the most part, we stood on the subway! The second day we attended a church service at the local church, and then went over to the Brooklyn Tabernacle, to watch a song service. The Tabernacle was really cool, even though I have been there before. Third day, we went over to an after school program and helped some of the kids do some of their homework. That was really cool, I do enjoy working with the kids, but I felt really stupid when I couldn't help a fourth grader with a math problem. Oh well, we are back at the base for now, and I am getting ready to go out and get some pizza; I have been looking forward to this for a while. I guess I am going now, I will write again later. God bless. | | |
| I assume that it has been long enough since my last post. There are some things to write about this time. One of them is that it is finally time for spring break! Tomorrow, I leave for New York City for a week! I am looking forward to that a lot; although it is going to be one monster of a drive. Also, I am still on the countdown for graduation in may. It will be so cool to finally be rid of one step in the college process; even if I do still have about four to six more years to go. Also, I am saying good bye to my teenage years. Yes, it is sad, but I am not a teenager anymore. It feels strange because I am now supposed to be fairly self-sufficient, and to be able to rely on myself more often. Not that this is entirely a bad thing, but it is going to be different. Still independence could be kinda cool. Pretty soon I am going to have to decide which college I am going into after Garrett. Who knows how far away that the one I find is going to be. I am hoping to find a college in a reasonable distance though. One that is far enough so that I get used to living out of my parent's house, and yet at the same time, one that is close enough so I can come home sometimes. I suppose everything will work out the way that it is supposed to. Only way to predict the future is to wait and see what happens. I suppose that will do for now; it was nice to be able to post again. I will talk to you all again later. God bless. p.s. In other news, Alesha's grandmother has just passed away, so if you guys could pray for her family I would appreciate it. | | |
| It has been a month, I suppose I could update again. Nothing happening around here though. It is now a little less than two weeks before my 20th birthday. That is kinda cool. Another thing that is happening is that I have another oppurtunity to travel to New York City with IV. I know that I have enjoyed going in the past. This time however, I may be able to take Alesha along; which would be pretty neat. The other times I went I was pretty much the only person I knew. It was still fun, but it was a little strange getting to know everyone; still I am glad that I did. I have made some pretty good friends on those trips. Still, it would be cool if I could take a friend on one. Otherwise, the countdown to graduation continues. It will be pretty darn cool to be able to be done here and have something to show for it. I feel as I have been here quite long enough. The only other countdown is to Creation. I cannot wait to get there. Just to be able to get away and enjoy all the concerts and the space. It is surprising how peaceful and quiet it can seem in the middle of ten thousand people. It was definitely enjoyable. Well, I guess that is all that is really going on right now; hopefully you enjoyed this little trip into my life. I will see everyone later. | | |
| Well, it is looking like I may have a few things to look forward to this summer; and the months ahead. First, in just a little less than two months, is my twentieth birthday! That will be an odd milestone for me to hit! Looking back, twenty always seemed so old to me; now I am about to turn twenty myself. I have to tell you though, it is not as old as it first seemed. Second, I am finally going to graduate college come may! I have been here long enough and I finally get to walk down the aisle and recieve my associates degree. A small step yes, but at least it is a step. The only problem is figuring out where I go from here. Thirdly, I am planning on taking my sister and a few friends to Creation in june. I know that I had a blast last year, and I plan to do the same again. I am really looking forward to that, because it will be my first ever road trip. No parents, no pastors, just a couple of kids having some fun! Well, I guess that is my update for now. I should be getting the internet back in my house in a few days, so I will try to update more often. Until then, I will see everyone later. | | |
